What is hyperpigmentation anyway? It typically occurs with excessive melanin production in the body’s cells, called melanocytes. Melanin is what gives skin its color and when there is too much production, skin can turn brown. Hyperpigmentation or dark spots can range from big and small sizes and appear anywhere on the skin. Hyperpigmentation can be caused by melasma (due to hormonal changes–usually from pregnancy or even birth control) or prolonged sun exposure. Luckily, it's harmless in most cases. FAQ: Why are the pads individually packed? We completely understand how it may seem wasteful to package the ACV pads separately. However, considering the strength of the ACV and AHA combination, the liquid dispersed onto the pad needs to be at a very specific volume. If all pads were to be packaged together, the liquid would not be controlled and could potentially exceed its volume. In result, the pad would be oversaturated and too harsh on skin.
